Auburn senior Lauren Thornquist snagged the South Puget Sound League 4A top-singles title this past weekend, earning the No. 1 seed into this weekend's district tourney in Olympia.

Thornquist, who finished the regular season with a 7-0 record, swatted away the competition without dropping a set, winning the title match 6-3, 6-0 over Kentridge's Christin Ly.

Along the way, Thornquist beat Kentwood's Audry Snider, Kentridge's Jessica Lam and Mount Rainier's Kristina Stevanovic, all in straight sets.

Thornquist looks to cap an impressive four-year prep career – which includes four undefeated regular-season campaigns and four South Puget Sound League Central Singles Players of the Year awards – with her fourth state appearance.

Also moving on to districts are the No. 1 doubles team of Carson Heilborn and Sydney LaValley, and the No. 2 team of Jessica Fullford and Lindsey Sanborn.

Heilborn and LaValley, who finished the regular season with a 7-0 record, posted a 2-2 match record in the tourney and earned the No. 7 seed to districts after losing to Thomas Jefferson's Coco Hernandez-Tagoe and Gloria Oh, 7-6, 4-6, 7-5.

Fullford and Sanborn earned the No. 5 seed with a 6-2, 6-3 win over Kentridge's Christine Huynh and Daniella Aberion.

The West Central District III/Southwest District 4 4A tourney is Friday and Saturday at the Capitol City Club in Tumwater. The top-seven placers at the tournament move on to the state 4A championships May 30-31 in Richland.
