The Auburn Mountainview girls and boys track and field teams will be well represented at this week's West Central District III/Southwest District 4 3A meet at Sunset Chev Stadium in Sumner.

Seventeen individual competitors and five relay teams qualified with their performances at this past week's South Puget Sound League/Seamount League 3A sub-district meet.

"Our kids really competed well at the sub-district meet," Lions coach Joel McDougall said. "We have the ultimate goal of getting to the state meet, so we know there is still work to do. We had some kids who really stepped up and had some nice personal records but more importantly didn't back down. We want them to not settle, to compete at everything they do, and I thought they did a good job of it over the two days of the meet."

For the boys, junior Trevor Jensen earned district spots in two events, finishing first in the discus with a toss of 124 feet, 6 inches, and taking third in the shot put (45-9).

Junior Keegan Provo finished first in pole vault (12-0). Junior Elijah Langley won the triple jump (42-0). Senior Malachi Fowler was second in the shot put (46-1 1/2) and sixth in the discus (124-6).

Sophomore Vaughn Daggs was fourth in the long jump (19-4 3/4) and sixth in the triple jump (39-2). Vaughn also qualified in the 100 meters with a time of 11.50 seconds.

Sophomore Gavin Robertson was third in the long jump (19-5 3/4) and third in the triple jump (40-10 3/4).

Sophomore Michael Causley was fifth in the long jump (19-2 3/4).

Senior Ray Hardaway moves on in the 100 (11.50, sixth), and freshman Justen Hardaway was third in the 300 hurdles.

Junior Jake Weathers was second in the 300 hurdles (43.0).

Also moving on were the Lions' 400 and 1,600 relay teams.

For the girls, senior Rachel Greve was first in the javelin (122-6) and sixth in the shot put (33-9 1/4).

Senior Viktoriya Vasina captured the triple jump (33-5 1/4) and was second in the long jump (16-9 1/4).

Sophomore Tiffany Pott was sixth in the 800 (2:37.53) and fifth in the high jump (4-8).

Freshman Molly House was third in the 300 hurdles (49.39) and seventh in the 100 hurdles (17.19).

Senior Allison Hammer qualified for districts with a fourth in the 3,200 (12:16.20), and junior Elli Alfrey was fourth in the javelin (107-10).

Rounding out the Lions' district qualifiers was freshman Jocyline Lacey-Wood in the 100 hurdles (16.93, sixth).

Auburn Mountainview's 400, 800 and 1,600 teams also qualified.

The district meet began Thursday at 3:30 p.m. and continues Thursday at 3:30 p.m. in Sumner. Finals begin at 9 a.m. Saturday.

The top-five finishers at district advance to the state 3A meet May 30-31 at Mount Tahoma Stadium in Tacoma.
