Reporter staff

Auburn Little League Dynamite were unable to find their groove against the powerhouse Nunaka Valley-City View-Polar, Alaska all-stars on Saturday, falling 13-1 in the second round of the Western Regional Junior Softball Tournament in Tucson, Ariz.

The Dynamite, state champions, managed just one hit against Alaska pitcher Rebecca Syrup, who pitched a five-inning complete game, striking out eight.

Emily Bartholomew had the Dynamite's lone hit and scored the only run.

Julia Tosi lead Alaska with two doubles and three RBIs. Teammate Tala Lauvale had three RBIs and a home run and Olivia Webster added two RBIs.

In the circle for the Dynamite, starter Caitlyn Rhoades and closer Brianna Azevedo combined to give up 14 hits and 11 earned runs.

Auburn looks to stay alive in the consolation bracket with a 6:30 p.m. game Tuesday against the Fontana Community Little League team from California.
