The numbers tell the story.

In four years with the Auburn Riverside fastpitch program, Amanda Fitzsimmons posted a 55-11 record on the mound, helping to drive her team to three South Puget Sound League 3A titles and a fourth-place finish in the Washington State 4A girls tournament this season.

In that time, Fitzsimmons notched a .070 earned run average, giving up just 29 earned runs in 411 innings. She faced 1,576 batters, giving up just one home run. She walked just 21 batters, striking out 603.

This season she went 15-5 and posted the best ERA of her high school career with a .056.

At the plate, Fitzsimmons also has been a presence for the Ravens this season. She hit .655 with 22 RBIs and scored 16 runs. She had seven doubles and three triples, as well.

Offensively, her career at Auburn Riverside also has been impressive.

In four years, she has compiled a .626 batting average with 108 RBIs, nine home runs and a .770 on base percentage.

With those type of statistics it's easy to see why Fitzsimmons has garnered the honors she has in her prep career.

In addition to being selected the Auburn Reporter Girls Prep Athlete of the Year, she was voted the league MVP as a freshman, junior and senior. She was named an all-state player each year of her high school career and was a first-team all-league selection for the past four years as well.

In addition to her career with the Ravens, Fitzsimmons also plays select softball with the Washington Sidewinders.

As impressive as her numbers as a high school athlete have been, it's just a start for Fitzsimmons who will attend and play ball on scholarship for the University of Washington Huskies next season.

"Amanda is one of the top players in the Seattle area," said UW coach Heather Tarr said. "Her left-handed bat will be a nice addition to our offense. She has been a legitimate pitcher at the 18-U level over the past few years, and we plan to give her an opportunity to develop as a pitcher within our program."
