Silvertips down T-Birds 7-0

The Everett Silvertips defeated the Seattle Thunderbirds 7-0 Jan. 28 at the Comcast Arena in Everett.

Everett took a 1-0 lead at 10:24 of the first period on a goal by Tyler Maxwell. Parker Stanfield and Ryan Murray had the assists.

The Silvertips went in front 2-0 at 12:10 of the first on a power-play goal from Clayton Cumiskey. Scott MacDonald had the only assist on the goal.

Everett (19-23-3-4) outshot Seattle 13-9 in the first period.

The Tips scored two goals in 10 seconds in the second period to take a 4-0 lead. Josh Winquist scored at 4:23 on an assist from Cumiskey. Cody Fowlie scored an unassisted goal at 4:33.

Everett led in shots 23-19 after two periods.

Maxwell scored at 3:25 of the third period on assists from Stanfield and Ryan Harrison to give the Tips a 5-0 lead.

Josh Birkholz got the Tips sixth goal at 4:20 of the third on an assist from Fowlie.

Seattle replaced goalie Calvin Pickard with Michael Salmon after the sixth Everett goal. Pickard made 20 saves on 26 shots in the loss and his record fell to 18-20-3-5.

Fowlie scored at 10:56 of the third to make it a 7-0 Silvertips lead. Birkholz and Erricson had the assists.

Seattle (18-22-4-5) outshot Everett 16-8 in the third period and 35-31 in the game.

Salmon stopped four of five shots he faced in 15 minutes of action.

Everett goalie Kent Simpson stopped all 35 shots he faced to get the shutout and improve his record to 13-16-3-4.
