Pickard, Rai see WHL league honors

The Seattle Thunderbirds have announced goalie Calvin Pickard has been named the Western Conference Finalist for the WHL Goaltender of the Year Award and has also been named a Western Conference First Team All-Star.
T-Birds left wing Prab Rai was named a Western Conference Second Team All-Star.
Pickard, from Winnipeg, Manitoba, is in his second season with the T-Birds. He is the top-ranked goalie by NHL Central Scouting for the 2010 NHL Draft.
Pickard played a league high 3,688 minutes this past season. He had a .914 save percentage and a 3.09 goals against average. Pickard finished the season with a 16-34-7-5 record with three shutouts.
Rai, a 20-year-old from Surrey, British Columbia, was the T-Birds leading scorer this past season. He had 69 points on 41 goals and 29 assists. Rai was selected by the Vancouver Canucks in the fifth round of the 2008 NHL Draft.
Martin Jones of the Calgary Hitmen is the Eastern Conference nominee for the Goaltender of the Year Awards. The winner of this award will be announced at the 2010 WHL Awards Luncheon in Edmonton, Alberta, on Wednesday, April 28.
