2008-09: Jonathan was acquired from the Vancouver Giants for a 10th round selection in the 2009 WHL Bantam Draft just before the season started. He played in 65 games and had 17 goals and 22 assists for 39 points. Jonathan finished the regular season with a plus/minus rating of minus-3 and had 55 penalty minutes. During the playoffs Jonathan played in five games scoring no goals or any assists and spent no time in the penalty box. He scored his first career WHL goal at the Kamloops Blazers on October 22. Jonathan had a three-game goal streak in November with a single tally against Edmonton on November 4, Red Deer on November 7 and Chilliwack on November 8. He appeared in all five T-Bird playoff games but did not register a point.
