Lions roar back but come up short; Ravens roll

Auburn Mountainview nearly came all the way back.

Trailing 20-0 to Kentridge after the first quarter, the Lions rallied but came up short 27-24 in a North Puget Sound League interdivisional football game Thursday night at French Field.

The Lions (0-3) open Valley Division play against Federal Way this Friday. Kickoff is 7 p.m. at Auburn Memorial Stadium.

Auburn Mountainview scored 17 fourth-quarter points but came up short to Kentridge (2-1).

Junior quarterback Drew Davenport completed 2o of 32 passes for 184 yards and two touchdowns. He also ran for 51 yards.

Berkeley Alfrey led the Lions on the ground with 71 yards on 14 carries. Bill Benjamin had eight receptions for 65 yards and a TD.

Elsewhere:

Auburn Riverside 55, at Thomas Jefferson 19: Javon Forward ran for 122 yards and three touchdowns and caught two more as the Ravens (3-0) routed the Raiders (0-3) in an NPSL game Thursday night at Federal Way Stadium.

Forward, a junior running back, scored on runs of 7, 13 and 21 yards and caught TD passes of 52 and 58 from D’Andre Stevens, who threw for 190 yards on the night.

Forward compiled 283 all-purpose yards.

Jayden Solis ran 66 yards for a score, Lucas James scored on a 6-yard run and Travis Sherman added a late 17-yard TD run for Auburn Riverside.

Justus Legg led the Ravens with 10 tackles, three of which went for losses.

The Ravens open Mountain Division play at Enumclaw this Friday. Kickoff is 7 p.m. at Pete’s Pool.
