Super Saturday drag racing season opener comes to Pacific Raceways

The biggest local drag race series in the Northwest opens up its season on Saturday at Pacific Raceways in Kent as Dave Barcelon’s Truck Town presents Super Saturday.

Super Saturday races feature all of the Swift Tool ET Series race classes (super pro, pro, sportsman and motorcycles) and the NHRA Sportsman classes (stock/super stock, super street, super gas, super comp and top comp). In addition, there are team points within the individual honors.

Super Saturday races also will get the green light July 8, July 29, Aug. 11 and Aug. 26 at the Kent strip. The first NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Race Series event is scheduled for June 22-25, featuring a points-earning Super Saturday race. Racers can claim points in five out of the six race series.

In addition to Dave Barcelon’s Truck Town as the presenting sponsor, class sponsors include Legends Roofing; Turbo Technology; Puget Sound Petroleum; Hauter Racing and Jim Storms and Jim Boyce; Federal Way Automotive; and Legends Roofing.

Longtime sponsor Swift Tool supports the ET classes, which will start at 9 a.m. each Saturday. The super classes begin at 1 p.m.

Spectator tickets for Super Saturday races are $13 and can be bought at the gate. Each ticket is also a pit pass and gets you close to the drivers and the cars.
