Thunderbirds trade Berlin to Kootenay for draft pick

The Seattle Thunderbirds have traded goalie Matt Berlin to the Kootenay Ice in exchange for a fifth-round pick in the 2018 Bantam Draft.

“Matt was a solid contributor and an excellent teammate for us for both years here and we wish him good luck in Kootenay,” said general manager Russ Farwell.

Berlin has a 12-7-2-1 record in 24 games this season. He has a goals against average of 3.40 and a save percentage of .893 with one shutout. Berlin was acquired from the Spokane Chiefs last season and had a 7-2-2-0 record with a 2.82 goals against average and a .902 save percentage as the T-Birds won the 2017 WHL championship.

The T-Birds play the Portland Winterhawks at 7:05 p.m. Tuesday at the accesso ShoWare Center on a Directors Mortgage 2-for-Tuesday. All tickets and beer are two-for-one and there are $2 concession specials on hot dogs, popcorn and soda.
