Rachelle Mentink is the owner and director of the new Kumon Math and Reading Center, located in Auburn’s Ellingson Crossing Shopping Center, 4017 A. Suite 103.

The after-school center teaches the Kumon method to Auburn-area families. The method fosters independent learning through curriculum that introduces core concepts in small, gradual steps.

Mentink has a degree in psychology from Western Washington University, a master’s degree in education from City University, and a continuing Professional Certification certificate from Pacific Lutheran University. She worked as a language arts and math teacher, a track and basketball coach, and teacher trainer/mentor in the Auburn School District for the last eight years.

Center hours are 3-7 p.m., Mondays and Thursdays. Other hours vary. For information, please call 253-333-2415.
