Haugen has sense of community

I attended the recent mayoral debate between Mayor Pete Lewis and Councilmember Virginia Haugen. Mayor Lewis stated that when he moved here he “learned a sense of community”.

My parents chose the West Hill of Auburn to raise their family. My sister and I were born here. We learned our sense of community through our parents’ guidance and our neighbors influences. We belonged to Camp Fire Girls, where we further learned our sense of community.

I raised my children here, where they were mentored by their family, teachers, principals, coaches and civic leaders. All the while teaching them a sense of community.

I know Virginia Haugen. She raised her children here. She has served on teen pregnancy committees as well as domestic abuse committees. She has and continues to serve on the City Council. She has a “sense of community.”

A sense of community comes from the examples set by your parents, as well as their teachers, clergy, and honest civic leadership.

I sense a need for change in my community. Please cast your vote for change in Auburn. Vote Virginia Haugen.
