Auburn police responded to numerous calls for service between Dec. 26 and Jan. 4, among them the following:
Dec. 26
Disorderly conduct: 7:30 p.m., 500 Auburn Way S. An aggressive beggar on the off ramp of east SR 18 and Auburn Way South held up a sign that read: “Layed off, it’s my birthday, need a beer, happy Holidays.” Police arrested, cited and released the beggar.
Jan. 1
Strong arm street robbery: 1:10 a.m. 24 A St. SE. A woman reported that she had just withdrawn an undisclosed amount of cash from an ATM when two kids ran up, snatched the money from her hand and fled into the darkness.
Jan. 2
Theft: 9 p.m., 2455 F St. SE. A man allowed a friend to stay with him. When the man woke up, his friend was gone and so was everything in the house.
Strong arm street robbery:
1 p.m., 2402 Auburn Way S. A man told police that a man he had picked up at a homeless shelter in Kent assaulted and robbed him of an undisclosed amount of cash in the Muckleshoot Casino parking lot.
Vandalism: 11:03 p.m., 1204 E. Main St. An unknown man damaged a gas pump when he drove away from the pump with the nozzle still attached to his car. No fuel was stolen.
Jan. 3
Pot possession: 3:30 p.m., 800 4th St. NE. School authorities caught a student on a bus with marijuana.
Commercial burglary: 8:20 a.m., 5141 Auburn Way N. Persons unknown burglarized Canopy West, taking multiple tools and products and vandalizing things while they were there.
Jan 4
Vehicle prowl: 8:10 a.m., 801 Auburn Way N. A video captured a boy lurking suspiciously around an unattended Auburn School District bus. The boy looked through the windows for several minutes before he opened the main passenger door at the front of the bus. Officers caught up with him a short distance away.
Vandalism: 10:20 a.m., 3100 block of 126th Avenue Southeast. Police arrested a man by citation for breaking a window of his girlfriend’s car.
Commercial burglary: Overnight, 3415 Auburn Way S. Persons unknown burglarized a commercial building under construction. It’s unknown if the burglars took any copper wire.
Trespassing: 10:26 p.m., 710 Auburn Way S. A man locked himself in a restaurant bathroom, whereupon police arrested him for trespassing. Apparently, the bathroom squatter had chosen to ignore a recent order that directed him to get out and stay out of said restaurant.
