cBeginning strings is designed for students who would like to learn to play violin, viola or cello. Classes meet Mondays and Wednesdays at Taylor Creek Church, 21110 244th Ave. SE, Maple Valley, and are taught by April Whyte, MVYSO’s conductor. Whyte also is an accomplished violist and orchestra specialist.
Debut orchestra is designed for students with 1-2 years of playing experience. It is open to students who play stringed instruments, brass instruments, percussion instruments, or woodwind instruments. Rehearsals will be held Wednesdays from 6-7 p.m. at Taylor Creek Church.
As students grow and develop as musicians, they may audition for MVYSO’s other orchestra groups. Performance opportunities grow as the student advances.
Orientation for beginning strings and debut orchestra is Sept. 28. Classes and rehearsals begin the week of Oct. 3.
