Molly’s Revenge, The Town Pants perform in Auburn | Entertainment lineup
Published 4:11 pm Thursday, January 5, 2012
Two of the finest Celtic bands on the West Coast will perform at the Auburn Performing Arts Center at 7 p.m. Saturday.
Molly’s Revenge describes their music as “dynamic, acoustic, Celtic.” This Santa Cruz, Calif., band has been entertaining audiences throughout the U.S. and internationally in pubs, clubs, festivals and highland games, performing traditional and original Celtic music for more than 10 years.
With a blend of unique and infectious enthusiasm; a classic combination of bagpipes, whistle, fiddle, and song; and a backdrop of guitar, bouzouki, bodhran and mandola, Molly’s Revenge guarantees an enjoyable experience for all ages.
Performing with Molly’s Revenge will be Rebecca Lomnicky, who is an international champion Scottish fiddler. In 2009 she won the invitation-only 20th Annual Glenfiddich International Scottish Fiddle Championship at Blair Castle, Blair Atholl, Scotland.
Opening for Molly’s Revenge will be the Vancouver, B.C., favorite Celtic band The Town Pants. They describe their music as “Celtic Roots.” The band combines aspects of Irish traditional, folk rock and roots Americana, fusing their signature dual lead vocals to create their own unique brand of high energy “West Coast Celtic.”
The Town Pants was invited to perform at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver and has performed throughout Canada, the U.S. and Europe again in pubs, clubs, festivals and highland games.
