Pondelick would bring new approach, ideas as mayor

Why should the people of Auburn consider Scot Pondelick for Auburn mayor?
We are tired of seeing the same old downtown look like a deserted ghost town. Auburn needs to be fixed. Scot has a plan to invigorate young business owners and young families who will take over the reigns of Auburn one day.
It’s time to start now to show the younger set that they can make Auburn fit its tagline, “More Than You Imagined,” instead of what it is now, “Less Than You Bargained For.” I believe Scot can do that.
Since I moved to Auburn in 1997, I have seen a decline in the vitality of this city. I have seen the downtown become a sad statement of a once prideful city. I really would like to see Auburn rival Kent, especially in the train/bus corridor businesses.
Auburn has a right and an obligation to capitalize on the same businesses or similar businesses that make Kent Station so vivacious.
I have listened to Scot and know he has plans to inspire, encourage and help develop plans to make Auburn vivacious by involving young business owners who can take Auburn to the next level.
Scot is a lifelong Auburn resident. He attended Chinook Elementary, Olympic Middle School (where I teach) and Auburn Riverside High School. He’s proud of being able to claim a connection to Auburn. When I talk to him, I get the genuine caring and kindness when he talks about Auburn. I just feel that he has enough love for Auburn and the people who live here to make it matter to do the right thing, time and again.
Scot is also a dedicated young man and he loves our country, our veterans. In my opinion, he will use the training of his eight years in the military – 38 months in deployment in the Army – to help create a solid, regimented and honest endeavor to his position as mayor.
He has been tested and he will meet the tests he comes up against as mayor in the same honorable way he met them while in the military. I believe in his commitment. I believe in Scot.
Scot has made an effort to connect with people. He will listen and he will be honest about what his plans are, what he can do and what he will have to work at.
Scot is a great guy and a perfect choice for mayor.
