Choose a mayor, elect Nancy Backus

All cities face a list of challenging quality of life issues and opportunities that arise from many complicated factors that keep a city government functioning. Our leaders who represent us do their best in fixing issues/problems. To do this, they must prioritize the issues because it is impossible to fix everything at once.
As we look around, we see evidence our leaders are doing a good job. We are especially pleased to learn the City has helped facilitate a major development project on the old Cavanaugh block (off Main Street) that is scheduled to begin development after the summer months. Was the effort to move this development project forward trivial? No, in our opinion, it takes time and careful planning and in many cases private funding for projects to move forward. All of Auburn will be proud of this downtown revitalization effort when completed by a local developer.
Another great City project just completed is the M Street underpass. This project had a ribbon cutting (opening) recently after nearly a one-year closure. This project was put on the drawing board as a Federal Fast Track Corridor Transportation project that began over 15 years ago with former Mayor Booth at the helm. He and other decision makers, including Sen. Patty Murray, championed this effort.
Let’s help our leaders move forward in a positive manner and let them know that we support them as much as we did when we elected them. Choose the candidate that continuously focuses on positive solutions and planning. Choose the candidate with the strong financial and managerial background. Choose Nancy Backus for our next mayor.
