Reminder: Don’t remove, deface campaign signs

As the political campaign season winds down, I would like to remind my fellow citizens that it is a crime under RCW 29A.84.040 to remove or deface lawfully placed political advertising (including campaign yard signs) without proper authorization to so.
As a misdemeanor criminal offense, if you are charged and convicted of the same, the maximum penalty is 90 days in jail and a maximum fine of $1,000 with a criminal record.
Political campaigns and candidates go to a great amount of work, effort and expense to place legal political advertising in public arenas, and we should respect their right to do so.
