Local runners move on to state meet | Prep cross country

Four local cross country runners punched their ticket to the Washington State Boys and Girls Cross Country Championships with their respective finishes at this past Saturday’s Westside Classic District meet at American Lake Golf Course in Lakewood.
Auburn Mountainview sophomore Christian Rotter led the pack of local Auburn runners, putting together a 16 minute, 37.88 second time and capturing third-place in the 3A boys competition.
Lion teammate Jonah Zucati also qualified for the state meet with a 20th-place, 17:46.56 finish.
Columbia River’s Austin Blakenship was first individually in the 3A boys with a 16:23.75 and Columbia River was first in the team competition with 45 points.
In the 3A girls competition Auburn Mountainview senior Allison Hammer also moves on to state with an 11th-place overall with a 20:45.91 time.
Prairie’s Nicole Goecke was first individually with a 18:42.44 and Prairie was first in the team competition with 41 points.
In the girls 4A race Auburn Riverside senior Rachel Covey qualified for state with a 30th-place, 20:20.82 finish.
Camas’ Alexa Efraimson was first with a 17:40.48 time and Bellarmine Prep captured first as a team with 63 points.
The Washington State Boys and Girls Cross Country Championships is Nov. 9 at Sun Willows Golf Course in Pasco.
