For the Reporter

The Dairy Queen/Orange Julius restaurant in Auburn recently received a PRIDE (Personal Responsibility in Delivering Excellence) Award from the Dairy Queen/Orange Julius system for achieving a high level of cleanliness and food safety.

Kurt Schauermann and Chris Bontempo oversee the restaurant at 1101 Outlet Collection Way, No. 1175.

“I feel honored to have received such a prestigious award,” said Schauermann, president and franchisee. “My staff and I work hard to keep our restaurant at a high level of cleanliness to ensure that we provide a safe and enjoyable environment for our customers.”

The award is given out to those stores that demonstrate PRIDE by maintaining a high level of cleanliness and food safety. Every restaurant that meets those standards will receive the award. This is the sixth year for the award, and last year approximately 12 percent of restaurants in the Dairy Queen/Orange Julius system qualified for the PRIDE Award. The award is delivered at the time of the PRIDE assessment, which can occur anytime throughout the year.

Schauermann received immediate recognition for his hard work in the form of a framed certificate with a picture of the crew working at the time of the assessment. The certificate states that his location achieved an Outstanding Cleanliness and Food Safety PRIDE check by setting up for success, giving the customer a reason to return and maintaining PRIDE.
