Still upset over cost of water

Well, I know this sounds like a broken record because I’ve written about it many times before but it needs to be said again. The high cost of water from the City of Auburn has gotten way out of hand.
Got my recent billing period water bill, and while I only consumed $26.10 worth of water, my total bill is $120.62. I have written past mayor Pete Lewis and current Mayor Nancy Backus about this and, to date, have not gotten an answer to my satisfaction.
I know what the additional $94.52 is going for, but my question is why are we being charged those fees every single month? It’s ludicrous, and we’re being gouged.
A Seattle Times article said Seattle City Light wanted to tack on 1.5 percent to electric bills. City Councilmember Kshama Sawant, in her first meeting as chair of the council energy committee, said the burden for rate increases should not fall on economically struggling residents. Auburn needs someone like her on the council.
I agree totally with Sawant and can relate to the increases to our water bills that Auburn’s economically struggling residents have had to absorb.
Our councilmembers need to put their heads together and come up with some resolve to this nagging situation. It’s their job.
