Gary Sands Evans, 82, of Auburn passed away surrounded by his family Wednesday, March 12, 2014.

Gary was born July 25, 1931, in Seattle. He was a 1949 graduate of Franklin High School, attended Seattle University and was a member of the U.S. Marine Corp. He worked as a manufacturing engineer for Boeing at multiple sites, most recently Kent aerospace until retirement in 1989. He was a skilled razor clam digger, crabber and fisherman. He loved to grow fruits and vegetables, pick wild berries and preserve his harvest. He was an enthusiast of nearly every sport and enjoyed beating opponents at cribbage and other card games. He adored his family and was beloved by all.

He is predeceased by parents Gordon and Clara Evans of Auburn.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley (Spence); children Catherine Wolf of Tucson, Ariz., Linda and Jeff Seilinger of Federal Way, Scott and Dawn Evans of Moses Lake, and Shauna Thompson of Grasonville, Md.; grandchildren Gerard Warren of Federal Way, Corina and Rob Kernan of Moses Lake , Blake Evans of Issaquah, Clayton and Rochelle Evans of Covington, Clara and Jerry Rodarte of Buckley, Eric Hagquist of Lynnwood, Lindsey and Lauren Seilinger of Scottsdale, Ariz., Jack Thompson of Edmonds and Emma Thompson of Grasonville, Md.; and 14 great-grandchildren with two more on the way.

A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, March 20, Messiah Lutheran Church, 410 H Street N.E. Auburn, WA 98002, where all are welcome.
