Rumbling, swift trucks pose safety problem

I attend my grandson’s baseball games at the ballpark on 41st Street behind Albertsons on the back side of Mt. Baker Middle School.

Since the season has started, not a person or player attending those games has not witnessed those big tandem gravel trucks rumbling down 41st at very excessive speeds.

The school buses parked on the shoulder of the road are no deterrent to the driver setting speed records going by. It is very obvious that a vehicle this size requires a huge distance to stop, akin to an ocean liner coming into port.

I guess it is our patriotic duty to ignore these behemoths rumbling by as they are merely instruments in building America. Those extra two or three trips keep the company profitable so they can stay in business and hire more people and so on.

So when something tragic happens over there, the victims can feel better about the funerals and hospital visits because they took one for the team.

Or there could simply be an officer over there on a random day of the week to put a stop to it.
