Hetty drew clear for a powerful 1 ½-length victory Saturday in the featured $19,400 Metro PCS Purse for older fillies and mares at Emerald Downs.

Ridden by Rocco Bowen, Hetty ran six furlongs in 1 minute, 9.37 seconds and paid $21, $7.60 and $5.80. Jim Penney is the trainer for owner Homestretch Farms Inc.

Beautranda, a 19-to-1 long shot ridden by Felipe Valdez, rallied from ninth place to finish second and paid $14.80 and $5.80. It was a nose back to Grab Ahold, ridden by Isaias Enriquez, and a $3.40 show payoff.

Whiskey Miner, Ms. Sutherland, Da Burn, River of Aces, Alert in Class and 9-to-5 betting favorite Stephanie Plum completed the order of finish.

Hetty stalked Ms. Sutherland as the latter filly zipped to the lead and set fractions of :21.45 for the quarter-mile and :44.10 for the half. The winner moved to the lead into the stretch, and was clearly best to the wire. A Washington-bred 4-year-old filly by Cahill Road-Infernal McGoon, Hetty has an overall record of 2-2-1 in seven starts and lifetime earnings of $38,519, including $10,395 for Saturday’s victory.

NOTES: He’s a Cruiser ($9.80) became the meet’s first four-time winner with a last-to-first triumph under Leslie Mawing in the seventh race, running six furlongs in 1:08.83. A 5-year-old Washington-bred gelding owned by Pam Gibson and Maureen Hallett and trained by Vince Gibson, He’a Cruiser is racing raced up the claiming ranks, winning for prices of, in order, $5,000, $7,500, $10,000 and $15,000.
