Country music star Ruthie Collins performs at the Washington State Spring Fair on Friday.

The 7:30 p.m. concert at the Showplace Stage is part of the KMPS Showcase, a Spring Fair tradition. Admission is free with fair gate admission.

The fairgrounds is at 110 Ninth Ave. SW, Puyallup.

Collins, a singer/songwriter/musician, is taking the country music industry by storm with her first single, “Ramblin Man,” produced by Sidewalk/Curb Records. “Ramblin’ Man” debuted on country radio nationally in March. The self-titled EP released in mid-December 2014, shot up digital sales in the first six weeks of airplay. It is available for digital download on iTunes.

“Ramblin’ Man” is a modernized cover of the classic Hank Williams hit. Her version of the song was first featured on SiriusXM’s The Highway as a “Highway Find.”

Collins is already a pro at sharing the stage with well-known country artists, including The Band Perry, Scotty McCreery, Kristian Bush and Sara Evans. Collins filmed a six-episode television series that followed her as she renovated a 1975 Argosy Airstream Trailer, which she frequently brings on tour. Collins wrote or co-wrote nearly every song on her first EP.

Collins, a rural New York native, has a love affair with all things vintage. With that in mind, Collins’ producer Curt Gibbs took the same approach to her debut single, matching up a timeless classic with a modernized delivery.

Previous up-and-coming talent at the KMPS Showcase held at the Spring Fair in past years have included Dierks Bentley, Joe Nichols, Justin Moore and Josh Gracin. Last year’s artist was Chuck Wicks.
