Leigh Erie

Born May 27, 1955, Leigh Erie passed away at age 59 on April 11, 2015 following a heart attack.

Leigh graduated from Columbia HS, Richland, WA in 1973; PLU in 1977; and UPS Law School in 1984. A respected lawyer, he practiced for 23 years in Tacoma at Gierke, Curwen, Metzler, and Erie, then began a second career, working for Sound Transit Risk Management until his death.

Intelligent, humble, honorable, and compassionate, Leigh put family and friends first, happily sharing his time, home, and knowledge. When asked for help, he always said yes. He touched many with his optimism, joyful spirit, and quiet morality, demonstrating his faith in God in his words and actions.

He was a devoted husband and father, teaching his children to “Learn Lots, Be Smart, Work Hard, and Have Fun”. With a twinkle in his eye and a ready smile, he shared his love of life in his enthusiasm for basketball, golf, skiing, traveling, and the company of good friends.

Leigh is survived by his wife Jan, daughter Rachel, (husband Karl and son Aksel), son Mike, (wife Ashleigh), father Norman, brothers Mike and Peter, sister Rebecca, many in-laws, nieces, nephews, and friends.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at Leigh’s church, Messiah Lutheran, 401 H St. NE, Auburn on June 20th at 2 pm. Leigh would appreciate donations in his name to Pacific Lutheran University.
