Step siblings identified in murder-suicide

The King County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the step siblings who died in an Auburn murder-suicide on June 7 in the 31300 block of 122nd Court Southeast in Auburn.

Police say 23-year-old James Balcerak apparently shot 21-year-old Brianna Smith in the head and turned the gun on himself

The KCME said both persons died of single gunshot wounds to the head.

Auburn Police said the father of one of the victims found Balcerak in the living room and Smith in a bedroom and called police. Police said the bodies had been there for some time.

Smith was a cashier at Fred Meyer in Auburn and lived in the home. Balcerak lived in Kent.
