Auburn residents are invited to an open house Aug. 9 to meet Dr. Alan Spicciati, the new Superintendent of the Auburn School District.

The welcoming event is from 2 to 3:30 p.m. at the White River Valley Museum, 918 H St. SE.

Museum admission will be waived in honor of the new superintendent.

“Since the Auburn School District has not had a superintendent hired from outside of the district for decades, it seemed like a great idea to offer the community a chance to meet and welcome Dr. Spicciati in an informal setting such as the community museum,” said Patricia Cosgrove, museum director.

Guests are invited to tour the permanent displays and to enjoy the new exhibit, SERVICE INK, Veterans’ Tattoos and Their Stories.

Spicciati is a graduate of the University of Rochester’s Eastman School of Music, with a double major in music education and performance. He earned his master’s degree from the University of Washington’s Danforth Education Leadership Program, and his superintendent certification and doctor of education at Seattle Pacific University. He comes from the Highline School District, where he served as a teacher, principal and administrator. Spicciati and his wife, Shannon, have moved to the West Hill of Auburn.
