From Mozart to Brubeck, Auburn Symphony Orchestra opens the 2015-16 season and the new Auburn Performing Arts Center with a symphonic program on Sunday, Oct. 11.

A Spirited Return to the PAC – Symphony Concert begins at 2:30 p.m.,

The program opens with spooky sounds of Mussorgsky’s “Night on Bald Mountain” and Saint-Saëns’ “Danse Macabre”. ASO concertmaster Brittney Boulding will be featured in Saint-Saëns’ introduction and Rondo Capriccioso.

The program closes with a seldom-heard jazz suite by Dave Brubeck, including his iconic “Take Five”.

Prior to the performance, conductor Stewart Kershaw and KING FM host Dave Beck give a pre-concert lecture at 1:45 p.m., focusing on the composers and their works.

The concerts are sponsored in large part by the City of Auburn.

Founded in 1996, the fully-professional orchestra is led by Kershaw, internationally-renowned conductor and former music director of the Pacific Northwest Ballet Orchestra.

The new PAC is at 206 E St. NE. Onsite parking is free.

Reserved seats are $35 for adults, $28 for seniors and $10 for students.
