Local historian Karen Meador presents a PowerPoint presentation on the history of Military Road on Saturday, Oct. 3.

The presentation – “A Lasting Legacy: The History of Military Road” – is from noon to 3 p.m. at the Brooklake Community Center, 726 S.356th St, Federal Way, just off Highway 99.

The event is part of the annual meeting of the Historical Society of Federal Way.

Brooklake Community Center, built in 1929, is one of the last of the Prohibition-era speakeasy/roadhouses.

Dick Caster, a researcher and member of the Historical Society, will briefly discuss the colorful history of the property.

The public is encouraged to tour the building and enjoy light refreshments.
