Lempert leads Lions’ charge with state title | 3A swimming and diving

Auburn Mountainview’s Owen Lempert captured the 50-yard freestyle title at the state Class 3A swimming and diving championships at the King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way on Saturday.

Lempert, a senior, parted the waters in 21.14 seconds.

He also finished sixth in the 100 breastroke in a school-record 58.87.

The Lions’ 200 free relay – consisting of Ian Portman, Chase Murphy, Michael Hall and Lempert – finished seventh in a time of 1:31.52.

Auburn Mountainview’s 200 medley relay foursome of Jared Toschi, Lempert, Murphy and Hall was 12th in 1:44.44.

Josh Watrous finished 12th in 1-meter diving with a score of 300.30.
