Auburn Police responded to the following calls for service, among many others, between March 17 and 22:
March 17
Theft from vehicle: 9:30 a.m., 1101 Outlet Collection Way SW. From the bed of a pickup at The Outlet Collection mall, somebody swiped a generator.
Animal problem: 2:04 p.m., 12401 SE 320th St. A pitbull found running paw loose and tail to the wind on Green River College’s campus was returned to its owner with citations, while police busted said owner on a misdemeanor warrant.
Vandalism: 11:02 p.m., 27th 15th St. NE. Police arrested two men for spray painting a pay phone, a Dumpster and a Conex box at local businesses.
March 19
Hit and run: 1025 8th St. NE. Overnight. Some schmuck drove his or her car into a fence overnight then did the old scramola, leaving wreckage behind.
Fraud: 11:59 p.m., 6500 block of Francis Loop Southeast. An account statement mailed on Nov. 27 to a woman’s future in-laws alerted her that she had become the victim of fraud and identity theft. The woman told police on March 19 that she had never used that address, and how in the world the bad guy came to know the nexus between her and the address is suspicious. A credit card application decline letter was likewise mailed to her Auburn address on the same day.
Vandalism: Overnight, 1101 Outlet Collection Way, SW. An unknown suspect damaged a window on the front of a business. The window stayed intact, so nobody got in.
Dissing the Easter Bunny: 1 p.m., 2401 Stuck River Drive. While City of Auburn employees were busy nearby hunting Easter eggs, somebody stole a woman’s purse from her vehicle on Stuck River Drive.
March 21
Animal problem: 11:35 a.m., 3000 block of 18th Street Southeast. A good Samaritan confined four dogs that had been running loose, one of the canines a “dangerous dog,” as declared by another city. Auburn’s animal control officer impounded the perilous pooch, transported it to the Auburn Valley Humane Society and returned the other dogs to their owners.
Traffic collision, hit and run: 12:46 p.m., 2400 Riverwalk Drive SE. A male driver lost control of his vehicle and collided with another vehicle, then ran from the havoc he’d created.
March 22
Assault with hands and fists: 5:35 a.m., 1300 block of 3rd Street Southeast. Police busted a man for trying to strangle his lady friend.
