Too little, too late for our traffic woes

Twenty-five years ago when traffic congestion was in its infancy, I wondered how long will the rich guys in their Caddies and Lincolns sit in traffic with the rest of us?
Back then, my state senator, Tracey Eide, said, “I don’t want to see any more concrete. No more concrete.”
Rep. Mark Miloscia wanted the state to loan our surplus revenues to third world countries. There were no transportation improvements.
I am surprised it took this long, but last year the Washington State Department of Transportation rolled out the Flex lanes on I-405 to create a “predictable trip.” I thought it will be very predictable; the Lexus and Beamer drivers’ trips will be predictable. The rest of us will not get there.
We are finally getting a little concrete poured on State Route 167 and a few other improvements; too little, too late. The cities are increasing population density as fast as possible and adding excessive stress to an overwhelmed system.
Isn’t uncontrolled growth a cancer by definition? Doesn’t cancer destroy its host?
