State Fair opens Friday in Puyallup

The Washington State Fair kicks off 21 days of fun for everyone on Friday in Puyallup.
This year’s extended dates will provide guests more options to visit the fair, with the addition of Labor Day weekend. The fair will be closed on Tuesdays to give staff and vendors time to rest, restock and recharge.
The annual Western Rodeo Parade and Cattle Drive opens the second weekend of the fair on Friday, Sept. 9. The rodeo begins that evening, with finals on Sept. 11.
Guests will have two opportunities to give back to the community within the first week, with a KOMO food drive on Friday, and a school supply drive for Communities In Schools on Sept. 9. Admission will be free from 10 a.m. to noon for guests who bring those suggested donations.
A new exhibit this year, “Discover the Dinosaurs,” a unique hands-on animatronic exhibit. Activities are available for all ages to explore pre-historic life in realistic scenes.
Come meet your favorite superhero. Guests of all ages can enjoy meet-and-greet opportunities with some of the most notable costume characters at Superhero Headquarters, including Captain America, Thor, Wonder Woman, Superman, Batman, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and others.

The new Grand Wheel ride sits at 108 feet high, with 24 gondolas, and across the grounds is the new barn, Agriplex.
Guest favorites are back including scones, elephant ears, Piglet Palace, the Classic Coaster, strolling entertainment, shopping and other attractions and eats.
