The Valley Regional Fire Authority responded to 272 requests for service between Dec. 26 and Jan. 1, among them the following:
Dec. 26
Natural gas investigation: 11:44 a.m., (Algona). Firefighters responded to the odor of natural gas in a commercial building, secured the power and gas to the building and notified Puget Sound Energy. Firefighters released the building to its manager once PSE was on scene.
Dec. 27
Aid call: 2:13 p.m., (Lea Hill). Firefighters responded to an older woman who was complaining of a cut to her head from a fall, and the woman’s daughter transported her to a nearby hospital.
Dec. 28
Aid call: 7:16 p.m., (Auburn). Firefighters and King County Medics treated an Auburn senior citizen who was in respiratory distress, and medics transported him to St. Francis Hospital for additional care.
Dec. 29
Aid call: 11:30 a.m., (Lakeland Hills). VRFA firefighters treated a man with slurred speech, and a private ambulance transported him to MultiCare Auburn Medical Center (MAMC).
Dec. 30
Accident: 8:14 a.m., (Pacific). Having responded to a two-vehicle, head-on accident involving a semi-truck, firefighters assessed a young man before a private car transported him to MAMC. Small and Sons Oil recovered 150 gallons of diesel from a leaking saddle tank.
Dec. 31
Aid call: 11:10 p.m., (Lakeland Hills). After firefighters had examined a young man who was complaining of chest pain and determined that his was not a new condition, family drove him to MAMC for further evaluation.
Jan. 1
Aid call: 6:52 p.m., (North Auburn). Firefighters assessed the condition of a young man who had overdosed on drugs at a business in the 1500 block of Auburn Way North and treated him on scene. A private ambulance transported him to MAMC.
