The Valley Regional Fire Authority responded to 226 calls for service between Sept. 25 and Oct. 1, among them the following:
Sept. 25
Apartment fire: 7:14 p.m., (Lea Hill). Firefighters extinguished a kitchen fire in a unit on the top floor of a three-story apartment building, and turned the scene over to a VRFA fire investigator. Nobody was hurt.
Sept. 26
Aid call: 1 p.m., (Pacific). Firefighters responded to an older man who was suffering stroke-like symptoms, and a private ambulance hurried him to MultiCare Auburn Medical Center (MAMC).
Sept. 27
Aid call: 7:43 p.m., (Auburn). Firefighters treated a man who had fallen from a roof and sustained a traumatic head injury, and King County Medics transported him to Harborview Medical Center.
Sept. 28
Aid call: 6:13 p.m., (Auburn). Firefighters treated a young man who’d sustained a crushing injury to his left foot, and a private ambulance hustled him to MAMC.
Sept. 29
Aid call: 7:35 p.m., (Lakeland Hills). Firefighters treated a woman who was complaining of decreased motor skills, and a private ambulance hurried her to MAMC for further evaluation.
Sept. 30
Brush fire: 1:09 p.m., (Auburn). Firefighters responded to a one-quarter acre brush fire in the Green River College forest, which appeared to have been burning for days in the dense growth. With no access to water for hoses, firefighters dug fire breaks to prevent the fire from spreading. The cause of the fire is unknown.
Oct. 1
Aid call: 5:05 p.m., (Algona). Firefighters evaluated a senior citizen who was complaining of right-sided facial drooping, and a private ambulance hurried him to MAMC.
