The Valley Regional Fire Authority responded to 257 calls for service between Oct. 2 and 8, among them the following:

Oct. 2

Aid call: 1:34 p.m., (Algona). Firefighters and King County Medics evaluated a man who was suffering chest pain, and a friend transported him to Saint Joseph Medical Center.

Oct. 3

Accident: 10:05 a.m., (Pacific). Firefighters responded to a three-vehicle accident on Highway 167, where two women were complaining of back pain. Firefighters examined the women before an aid unit and a private ambulance transported them to MultiCare Auburn Medical Center (MAMC).

Oct. 4

Aid call: 10:16 a.m., (Auburn). Firefighters responded to a teenage boy who had gone over the handlebars of his bicycle and sustained a broken wrist. Firefighters splinted the boy’s wrist, and his mother drove him to a hospital.

Oct. 5

Brush Fire: 10:46 a.m., (Auburn). Firefighters responding to a smoldering brush fire extinguished it with hand tools.

Oct. 6

Aid call: 9:30 a.m., (South Auburn). Firefighters helped a man who was complaining of shortness of breath, and a private ambulance transported him to MAMC.

Oct. 7

Minor Fire: 1 p.m., (South Auburn). Firefighters responding to reports of smoke from an apartment in the 500 block of 37th Street Southeast found a small kitchen fire that went out as they arrived. Firefighters shut down power to the appliance and ventilate the apartment.

Oct. 8

Aid call: 10:17 a.m., (Auburn). Firefighters responding to an Auburn senior who was complaining of pain all over determined she was dehydrated and likely had an infection, so a private ambulance transported her to MAMC.
