I couldn’t help but share the photo of our flag that was rescued from an Auburn Lakeland Hills residence by the White River Valley (Auburn) VFW Post 1741 where a new, 3-by-5-foot flag was installed by Post 1741.

What a shame that our flag was treated so poorly.

Our wars have sacrificed thousands of service men and women for the freedom we enjoy today. Thank God that Post 1741 has a community flag program that replaces worn and tattered flags. The program started in 2009 in our community and received Veteran of Foreign Wars National Department recognition.

Post 1741 is proud of our community flag program, and requests that the community band together to rid the community of worn-and-tattered American flags. Let us show our service members that we care ,and thank them by treating our flag with respect and dignity.
