Family-friendly outdoor entertainment, movies planned for this summer

The Auburn Parks, Arts & Recreation Department offers the Summer Sounds & Cinema Series on three Friday nights this summer.

The first event is at 6 p.m. Friday, July 27 at Lea Hill Park, 31693 124th Ave. SE. Matt Baker’s Comedy Stunt Show performs on stage from 6 to 6:40 p.m., followed by The Hair Nation Band and wrapping up with a screening of “Despicable Me 3” (PG).

The City of Auburn will offer inflatable rides. ArtRageous provides hands-on art activity, with Susie Fountaine leading participants in a Minion-related activity. Stacks Food Truck will sell a variety of burgers, fries and drinks. Tastyz will serve kettle corn and shaved ice.

4Culture and King County Parks are sponsoring the outdoor concert and movie night.

Also:

• 6 p.m. Aug. 3, Sunset Park, 1420 69th St. SE. Joanie Leeds, a singer/songwriter from Brooklyn, N.Y., plays fun music for kids. The Chris Anderson Band will follow, offering a spin on jazz, motown and traditional pop song. Watch the screening of “Coco” (PG), a vibrant tale of family, fun and adventure that follows an aspiring, young musician on an extraordinary adventure. Inflatable rides and an ArtRageous hands-on art activity. Arnold’s Happy Days’ Food Truck will sell burgers, salads and beverages. The Auburn Youth Council with sell hot dogs, chips, popcorn, drinks and other treats.

• 6 p.m. Aug. 10, Les Gove Park, 910 Ninth St.t SE. Latin Grammy winner, Mister G, performs his kid-friendly, bilingual songs, followed by Atomic Pop playing high-energy dance hits. “Raiders of the Lost Ark” (PG), will be shown at dusk. Featured at the event are inflatable rides and an ArtRageous hands-on art activity.

The event is coupled with the Almost 5K Poker Fun Run. There will be a beer garden and food vendor options.

Patrons are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, blankets and picnic baskets.
