Lions beat Puyallup, advance in district playoffs

The Auburn Mountaintainview girls basketball continued their late-season surge, beating Puyallup 66-50 at home Wednesday in a loser-out West Central/Southwest District playoff game.

The Lions (14-9), who have won three straight games, travel to Kentridge (19-2) to take on the fourth-ranked Chargers at 5:30 p.m. Thursday.

Auburn Mountaintainview defeated Auburn Riverside 70-47 in the North Puget Sound League tournament last Saturday at Enumclaw High School, earning the No. 9 seed to the district playoffs.

Elsewhere

The Ravens (11-12) – the No. 10 seed – saw their season come to an end with a 54-48 loss to Olympia in a district game at Graham-Kapowsin High School on Wednesday.

Auburn (12-10) held off Hazen 43-40 in the tournament last Friday at Auburn Mountainview, grabbing the NPSL’s No. 5 seed to the district tournament.

The Trojans, who have won six straight games, travel to Puyallup to take on Rogers at 7 p.m. Thursday.
