James Normand Fletcher
February 19, 1936- October 23, 2025
James Normand Fletcher, Jr, left our world for his heavenly home on October 23, 2025.
He was born in Fall River, MA, on February 19, 1936, to Lydie and James Normand Fletcher, senior. After the death of his father, his family moved to Auburn, WA, where he graduated from Auburn High School in 1954. He was raised by his mom and stepfather, Alphonse Spanick. Jim was predeceased by his brother-in-law Jerry Smith, his sister Nancy, and her husband Alfred Flechsig. Jim is survived by his wife Ruth, son Brian and his wife Colleen, three granddaughters, Jessica Fletcher, Melli Posey, and Gaberiel (Sarah) Owen, and her husband Nathan, sister Norma Smith, and several nieces and nephews.
He received a Bachelor’s degree in education from WSU in 1960. He and Ruth were married in 1961. Jim worked for the US Army Corps of Engineers for 32 years as Chief of Operations Branch. During that time he earned his Master’s degree from USC in Systems Management. Jim was a Demolay member in his high school, and belongs to the King Solomon Masonic Lodge. He also served on the Good ‘Ol Days Committee for many years, as well as many other boards and activities, including coaching his son’s baseball and soccer teams.
A viewing will take place at Yahn & Son Funeral Home on Saturday, November 22nd, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. A Celebration of Life will be held at Auburn First United Methodist Church on Saturday, April 25th, at 2:00 p.m.
He will be greatly missed.
