Fire blotter: Person and dog stranded on island in Green River

Between April 13 and April 19, the Valley Regional Fire Authority responded to the following 911 calls for service, among many others.
April 13
Aid call: 10:23 a.m. (Auburn). Firefighters and King County Medic One paramedics treated a man who had fallen and remained on the ground for several days, and then paramedics transported him to Valley Medical Center for further care.
April 14
Aid call: 7:41 a.m. (Auburn). Firefighters evaluated and treated a boy who had suffered a seizure but was no longer seizing when they arrived. He was then transported to MultiCare Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital for further care.
April 15
Aid call: 3:12 p.m. (Auburn). Firefighters treated a man whose foot had been run over by a forklift, and then a private ambulance transported him to a local hospital for further care.
April 16
Aid call: 4:02 p.m. (Auburn). Firefighters treated a man who had suffered a back injury as he was working outside, and transported him to MultiCare Auburn Medical Center for further care.
April 17
Accident: (Auburn). Firefighters arrived at the scene of a two-vehicle, head-on collision with heavy damage. Crews first secured the scene and then extricated the driver of one vehicle. Firefighters transported one person to a local hospital for further care.
April 18
Residential fire: 6:01 p.m. (Pacific). Firefighters arrived at the scene of a residential duplex fire to find heavy smoke coming from the roof and attic. Personnel worked with South King Fire, King County Medic One, and King County Fire District 20 to extinguish the fire. No injuries to residents or firefighters were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
April 18
Airplane crash: 1:33 p.m. (Auburn). Firefighters and King County Medic One paramedics responded to reports of a small twin-engine airplane crash near the GSA baseball fields. Crews arrived to find both pilots outside the aircraft in a construction area. Firefighters evaluated both individuals, and paramedics transported one of them to Valley Medical Center for further care. The scene was turned over to the Auburn Police Department and the National Transportation Safety Board for investigation.
April 19
River rescue: 2:16 p.m. (Green River). Rescue specialists, along with crews from Puget Sound Regional Fire Authority, Mountain View Fire and Rescue, South King Fire, the Enumclaw Fire Department, and King County Medic One responded to reports of an individual and a dog stranded on an island in the Green River. Swiftwater rescue technicians used a raft to reach the individual and safely return both the person and dog to shore. Neither required medical attention.
