The Veterans of Foreign Wars and two Boy Scout Troops gathered at Auburn Mountain View Cemetery to honor military personnel who died while serving in the armed forces.

On May 25, Mountain View Cemetery, 2020 Mountain View Drive, Auburn, hosted a Memorial Day service where the White River Valley Auburn Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1741, alongside Boy Scout Troops 401 and 398, honored fallen United States service members.

Additionally, Auburn Mayor Nancy Backus and several city council members were in attendance, alongside the community gathered for the service.

“Wherever the body of a comrade lies, there the ground is hallowed. Our presence here is a solemn commemoration of all these men and women, an expression of our tribute to their devotion to duty, to their courage and patriotism,” VFW Post 1741 Commander Deb Thomas said. “By their service on land, on sea and in the air, they have made us their debtors. For the flag of our nation still flies over a land of the free people.”
