A 6-to 7-year-old boy riding a bicycle was hit and injured by a car around 7:30 p.m. on Monday, July 6 near the intersection of 31st Street NE and L Street NE in Auburn.

He is being treated for serious injuries at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, according to the Auburn Police Department (APD).

Officers responded to the crash and were on the scene for multiple hours processing it, said APD’s Public Information Officer Kolby Crossley.

“At this time, they do not believe there was anything criminal about the situation, just a bad accident,” said Crossley.

APD did not disclose if the child was wearing a helmet or not.

The driver of the vehicle that hit the child was cooperative and remained on the scene throughout the investigation, according to Auburn Police.
