Shortly before 6 a.m. on July 5, the Reynolds family home was engulfed in flames at 5206 S. 344th St., in Auburn, according to South King Fire.

The damage to the family home from the fire was devastating, leading Daniel Kirchner and Michaela Hogan, friends of the family, to create a GoFundMe account in order to help raise money for the family.

The fire started at the back side of the home and spread quickly. The family escaped without harm but most everything inside their house was lost, according to the GoFundMe post. In addition, all work equipment for Michael Reynolds’ business, HandyTools Construction, was lost as well.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, according to South King Fire. The house is in unincoporated King County, with a Auburn address.

The family is seeking support from the surrounding community as they rebuild.

As of July 13, the GoFundMe had raised over $8,000 to support the Reynolds with a listed goal of $30,000.

“If you know the Reynolds’ you know they are always the first to step in when someone else is hurting,” according to Kirchner. “They have faithfully poured into their church, family, friends, neighbors, clients, and community with generous hearts and willing hands.”

According to GoFundMe, the Reynolds’ are currently residing in a two-bedroom missions apartment at their pastor’s home as they rebuild their foundation.

“Let’s come together in a big way to help carry this burden and remind them they are surrounded by a community that loves them deeply. Thank you for helping the Reynolds family take the first steps toward rebuilding after this devastating loss,” Kirchner said.
