Downtown Auburn Cooperative to host inaugural Family Fun Day

A new and exciting event is coming to downtown Auburn for community members of all ages from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 15.

The Downtown Auburn Cooperative is preparing to host its first Family Fun Day in Auburn in the parking lot next to 131 E Main St.

The organization is a private nonprofit 501(c)3 business association that has supported business in downtown Auburn since 1988.

Family Fun Day is a new event that the Downtown Auburn Cooperative hopes will further its mission of upholding the history of the city.

“The Downtown Auburn Cooperative’s mission is to promote, improve, and preserve historic downtown Auburn as the heart and soul of our community,” said Cheryl Rakes, spokesperson for the organization. “While we’ve hosted other downtown events in the past, we wanted to create a free, family-focused event that brings the community together before the end of summer.”

Family Fun Day will feature a bounce house, photo booth, disc gold, a kids activity station and more.

Additionally, parents will have the opportunity to enter the hourly prize drawings offered at the event.

Rakes commented on what the organization looks forward to the most at this new event.

“Whether children are playing games, creating crafts, getting a free haircut, or parents are visiting local vendors and entering our hourly prize drawings, we hope everyone leaves with great memories and a stronger connection to downtown Auburn,” she said.

The organization is mostly composed of volunteers which allows for the event to be free of charge, Rakes said.

“We are incredibly grateful to our volunteers, local businesses, vendors, and community partners who have helped make this event possible. Their generosity and support are what allow us to offer this event free to the community,” she said.

The Downtown Auburn Cooperative’s main goal of Family Fun Day is continuing to find new ways to bring the community together.

“Events like Family Fun Day help create connections between neighbors, families, and our local businesses,” Rakes said. “Strong communities are built through shared experiences, and we believe these events help create lasting memories while supporting our local economy.”
