Thanks for the silver lining

We enjoy and appreciate your news coverage of local items of interest. It’s like a breath of fresh air at the end of a busy week.

Typically, your paper focuses on the good and wholesome occurrences in life we often take for granted. Reports on the progress of community works-in-progress or the likes of a first-grade soccer team are often front page items. Activities of our local schools, art, music and poetry groups, and our athletes are given positive comments, I believe, for the simple reason that they are actively engaged in what makes our community a nice place to live. These items seem to be less important to larger, county, state, and national reporting mediums. Pity.

It is a fact you can find dirt, evil and stupidity anywhere you dig deep enough to find it. Your reports on the bad things going on in our community are not overlooked but seldom take up front page space. Thank you for not making the evil a focus of your paper.

Your police and fire and rescue blotters are short, concise but written with a positive slant to an otherwise negative event. They would make me chuckle if they weren’t bad things that happen to real people.

Thanks for helping an old curmudgeon to see the silver lining around the otherwise dark and dreary clouds.

Oh, and it really doesn’t bother me much when you miss and leave a dangling participle in.
