Inexcess Again powered to the lead on the turn and cruised to a 2¾-length victory over My Chief in Saturday’s $16,600 Muckleshoot Casino Purse for 3-year-olds and up at Emerald Downs.

Ridden by Leslie Mawing – already his fifth winner of the weekend – Inexcess Again ran 5½ furlongs in 1:02.62 and paid $4, $2.80 and $2.10. Blaine Wright is the winning trainer for owner breeder Madera Thoroughbreds of Madera, Calif.

Inexcess Again joined Night Train Lane and Native Causeway as two-time winners at the eight-day-old meet, while Wright improved to 6-1-1 in 10 starts at the meet including three feature-race wins.

At Golden Gate Fields, meanwhile, the Wright-trained Alert Bay ($9.40) prevailed in the $100,000 San Francisco Mile (G3) on turf and moved over $1.1 million in career earnings. A 5-year-old City Zip gelding, Alert Bay finished a strong third in the 2015 Longacres Mile.

A 5-year-old gelding by Snorter-Birdinexcess, is 5-1-1 in career starts with $43,445 in earnings, including $9,130 for Saturday’s win.My Chief, ridden by Juan Gutierrez, finished strongly for second and paid $3.60 and $2.80, while Perfect Night, ridden by Javier Matias, was three-quarters of a length back in third and paid $3. Howard Belvoir trains both the runner-up and third-place finisher.

Daytona Beach, Private Boss and Thisdewarsforyou completed the order of finish.

Night Train Lane ($17.80) notched his second win of the meet with a come-from-behind victory under Osvaldo Gonzalez in Saturday’s sixth race. A 4-year-old California-bred by Grazen, Night Train Lane is owned by Shane Bailey and trained by Tony Michael Gattellaro. … Oldtimers Vision ($8.80) ran the fastest mile of the meet, 1:35.27, while winning Saturday’s fifth race for owner/trainer Neil Knapp. A 5-year-old Pollard’s Vision gelding, Oldtimers Vision was third in the $25,000 Portland Meadows Mile this winter. … Trainer Mike Puhich has wins on the last three cards, including a double Saturday for owner Muddy Waters Stables LLC: Dyna Star ($10.60) in the opener and If You Like It ($11.80) in race seven. … With five wins in two days, Mawing has tied Rocco Bowen atop the jockeys’ standings at 13 wins apiece. … Isaias Enriquez also rode two winners Saturday. … Vistarella ($2.80) prevailed as the odds-on choice in race three and was claimed by trainer Wilfrido Montano in a two-way shake. A 6-year-old California-bred mare with eight lifetime wins, Vistarella was slammed in the show pool, accounting for $21,280 of $23,628 wagered. … Live racing continues Sunday with a 10-race card at 2 p.m. Queen’s Rush is the 5-2 morning line favorite in the $15,200 feature race for older fillies and mares.
