We cannot afford Bernie

On Saturday, we Democrats will have to choose who our presidential candidate will be at the caucuses.

Bernie Sanders wants to punish the banks. True, they made some great profit out of the recession, but we need the banks because that is where the money is.

If our government had not loaned to Bank of America, my $25,000 would have gone, my purchase of a new car would not have occurred, the commission paid to the salesman would not have happened, the profit to the dealer would not have happened, the wages paid to the Ford workers would not have happened.

The recession would have been worse. That is what happened in the Great Depression.

Bank of America has paid back its loan.

Also Bernie wants to have free public college tuitions. We taxpayers would have to pay what the students should work for to make their funds for tuition. Bernie is for a single payer health system. We taxpayers would have to pay for that.

Young students have been misled by universities as to what their beginning salaries were going to be. That should be corrected by the universities. Students should be counseled not to take out large student loans. Hence, the student would not buy cars and homes that they cannot afford.

No, we Democrats cannot afford Bernie Sanders, but a vote for Hillary Clinton is a vote for experienced leadership and someone who can beat Donald Trump in the November election.
