For the Reporter
Drivers who use southbound State Route 167 near State Route 18 in Auburn should take alternate routes and plan for delays this weekend.
Contractor crews working for the Washington State Department of Transportation plan to close ramps and lanes in the area for pavement repair work.
Closure details
Contractor crews will close two ramps around the clock during the following times:
• Friday, June 3, to the morning of Sunday, June 5 – The southbound SR 167 off-ramp to westbound SR 18 will be closed from 11 p.m. Friday to 8 a.m. Sunday.
• Friday, June 3, to the morning of Sunday, June 5 – The southbound SR 167 off-ramp to eastbound SR 18 will be closed from midnight Friday to 8 a.m. Sunday.
In addition, crews will close lanes during the following times:
• Friday, June 3, to the morning of Saturday, June 4 – Three right lanes of southbound SR 167 between SR 18 and 15th Street Southwest will be closed from midnight to 8 a.m. nightly for pavement repair work.
• Saturday June 4, to the morning of Sunday, June 5 – One right lane of southbound SR 167 between SR 18 and 15th Street Southwest will be closed from 8 a.m. Saturday to 8 a.m. Sunday.
At least one lane of southbound SR 167 will remain open at all times. During the overnight periods when three lanes are closed, drivers will be diverted into the new far left lane. Signed detour routes will be displayed along the route.
These closures are necessary to rebuild the north and south approaches to the southbound SR 167 general purpose lane bridge over SR 18. After completing this work, contractor crews will open the first 3.5 mile stretch of the new southbound HOT lane extension to carpoolers and transit riders. The work is part of the SR 167 8th to 277th Southbound HOT Lane project, which will extend the southbound HOT lane by eight miles.
Signed detour routes will be displayed along the route. For the most up-to-date details and a full listing of closures for this project, please visit the King County Construction page.
